Recommendation for the Canon PowerShot S90IS.
For those looking for a very small but capable point-and-shoot which captures images in RAW, the only previous obvious choices were the Nikon P6000 or the Canon G10 and now the G11 cameras. Canon has come out with a smaller version of the G-series, the " Canon PowerShot S90IS 10MP Digital Camera with 3.8x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3-inch LCD" $430 pre-order at Amazon at http://bit.ly/5CyCk . This does not have an external flash, but otherwise has everything I'd look for with the exception of Nikon's built-in GPS. " Canon’s storied S Series gets a revitalized new leader in the slimmer, lighter, new PowerShot S90, the perfect everyday camera for people who are serious about great photography. Image quality is superb thanks to the new High Sensitivity System and higher ISO speeds, plus an exceptionally bright f/2.0 lens that makes portraits and low-light shots come to life. Photography enthusiasts will love the new control ring at the base of the lens barrel, designed for intuitive, pro-style manual control." Product Dimensions: 3.9 x 2.3 x 1.2-1.9 inches (100 x 58 x 31 mm) ; 6.2 ounces. Review at dpreview Announced 19 Aug 2009 " Next comes the PowerShot S90 digital compact, resurrecting Canon's S-series of compact 'photographers' cameras. It features a 28-105mm F2.0-4.9 stabilized lens with a control ring built around it that enables control of camera settings such as exposure compensation. It also offers a 3 inch LCD with 461k dot resolution in a slim, compact body. Like the G11, it includes the high sensitivity 10MP sensor and Digic 4 noise reduction to make up a 'Dual Anti-Noise System.' In keeping with the photographers' camera brief, the S90 includes manual control and RAW shooting."
